In this book an account of fantastic technology and a philosophical enquiry about our relation to time is combined. It will dramatically change the way we think about the next millennia.
The Clock of the Long Now is a giant mechanical clock inside a Limestone mountain in the American desert. It is also a metaphor.
| Quote: | | Think of a large (Stonehenge size) clock, "powered by seasonal temperature changes. It ticks once a year, bongs once a century, and the cuckoo comes out every millennium." |
