The top of the world is melting. There's been a debate burning for years about the causes of global warming, but the scientists you're about to meet say the debate is over. The seas are rising, the earth is getting hotter and polar bears may be headed toward extinction. What does the melting Arctic look like? 60 Minutes Correspondent Scott Pelley went north to see.

PARIS - International scientists and officials hailed a report Friday saying that global warming is "very likely" caused by man, and that hotter temperatures and rises in sea level "would continue for centuries" no matter how much humans control their pollution.



The head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Rajendra Pachauri, called it a "very impressive document that goes several steps beyond previous research."

A top U.S. government scientist, Susan Solomon, said "there can be no question that the increase in greenhouse gases are dominated by human activities."

The 21-page summary of the panel's findings released Friday represents the most authoritative science on global warming. The panel comprises hundreds of scientists and representatives of 113 governments.

The scientists said the changes are "very likely" caused by human activity, a phrase that translates to a more than 90 percent certainty that global warming is caused by man's burning of fossil fuels. That was the strongest conclusion to date, making it nearly impossible to say natural forces are to blame.

The report said no matter how much civilization slows or reduces its greenhouse gas emissions, global warming and sea level rise will continue on for centuries.

"This is just not something you can stop. We're just going to have to live with it," co-author Kevin Trenberth, director of climate analysis for the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., told The Associated Press in an interview. "We're creating a different planet. If you were to come up back in 100 years time, we'll have a different climate."

Sharon Hays, associate director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy at the White House, welcomed the strong language of the report.

"It's a significant report. It will be valuable to policy makers," she told The Associated Press in an interview in Paris.

Hays stopped short of saying whether or how the report could bring about change in President Bush's policy about greenhouse gas emissions.

The panel predicted temperature rises of 2-11.5 degrees Fahrenheit by the year 2100. That was a wider range than in the 2001 report.

However, the panel also said its best estimate was for temperature rises of 3.2-7.1 degrees Fahrenheit. In 2001, all the panel gave was a range of 2.5-10.4 degrees Fahrenheit.

On sea levels, the report projects rises of 7-23 inches by the end of the century. An additional 3.9-7.8 inches are possible if recent, surprising melting of polar ice sheets continues.

Trenberth said scientists do worry that world leaders will take the message in the wrong way and throw up their hands. Instead, the scientists urged leaders to reduce emissions and also adapt to a warmer world with wilder weather.

"The point here is to highlight what will happen if we don't do something and what will happen if we do something," co-author Jonathan Overpeck at the University of Arizona said. "I can tell if you will decide not to do something the impacts will be much larger than if we do something."

The panel, created by the United Nations in 1988, releases its assessments every five or six years — although scientists have been observing aspects of climate change since as far back as the 1960s. The reports are released in phases — this is the first of four this year.

The next report is due in April and will discuss the effects of global warming. But that issue was touched upon in the current document.

RECALENTAMIENTO DE LA TIERRA DURARA UN MILENIO
PARIS, 2 (ANSA)-

El recalentamiento de la Tierra durará por alrededor de un milenio, afirmó hoy el informe publicado en París por el Grupo Intergubernamental sobre el Cambio Climático.
Los expertos entienden, con una probabilidad de 90 por ciento, que el recalentamiento se debe a emisiones de gases contaminantes a raíz de actividades humanas.
En el documento final de la reunión, también dijeron que la temperatura aumentará entre 1,8 y 4 grados hasta 2100.
Asimismo, el texto advierte que el nivel de los mares crecerá probablemente entre 18 y 59 centímetros hasta 2100, aunque niveles superiores no pueden ser excluidos, a raíz del descongelamiento de los hielos de Groenlandia y la Antártida.
Una estimación precedente, de 2001, había establecido un incremento del nivel de los mares de entre 9 y 88 centímetros.

El documento hecho en la ONU tiene muchas mentiras, es una respuesta que los escépticos querían escuchar de una voz "oficial".

El Polo norte y Groenlandia no van a existir más en 70 años, entonces no somos idiotas, y sabemos que el agua que hoy está congelada va a pasar al océano, provocando una crecida superior a esos 80 centímetros que hablan y en 2100!!??

El polo no va existir mucho antes que eso.

Acá pasa que en los últimos meses agencias importantes del mundo no les quedó otra que empezar a sacar este tipo de oticias de cambio climático, porque era muy evidente y ya no podían callar.
Entonces, quienes manejan los hilos de este mundo tenían que buscar una escapatoria fácil, evitando que la población mundial se vuelva loca y entre en pánico. Así salió la idea de realizar un "informe" que reuna a muchos científicos "expertos" y dejen contenta a la población de que esto del cambio climático no nos va pasar a nosotros y que se arregle el que viene.

Esa es la conclusión que han hecho.

Pera la realidad es otra.

La realidad es que en 70 años el Polo norte no tendrá hielo y que el agua subirá tapando Londres, Miami, Manhatan, y tantas otras ciudades costeras que albergan a millones de ciudadanos, y con ellos las enfermedades, y las hambrunas, y la falta de agua (Australia comenzará a comprar agua a otras naciones a partir de 2008 porque no tienen recursos);

Pero para muchas décadas antes del deshielo total, habrá muchos cambios previos y eso será en un par de decadas África será un continente de puro sufrimiento sin recurso natural alguno, veremos que harán los chinos con ellos; Europa un bodoque de habitantes viejos sin agua ni poder para conseguirla; EE.UU. invadiendo América Latina y los países de Sudamérica envueltos en una guerra civil que no dará tregua a combatir al enemigo imperial que pretenderá arrebatar sus recursos.
El gran imperio asiático estará listo a tomar las riendas del globo, ya que no se verá involucrado en guerras, pero deberá de obtener recursos que le son escasos también.

América Latina será el gran granero y la gran cascada de las naciones.


Ese, es el futuro que nos deparará, a menos que la gente se de cuenta; y de que alguien o de que un grupo de personas les alerte y así poder evitar lo que por ahora es inevitable.


Este mundo alberga a 6.000 millones de personas, yo creo que una pequeña porción sabe y conoce estos males para poder evitarlos, está en cada persona hacer algo.

Esto es simple, una operación matemática: si el Polo Norte se descongela por completo, cosa que pasará en 70 años, el nivel de mar ascenderá a 170 pies.
No es que sube de un día para otro, sino poco a poco, año a año, y en muchos lugares ya lo hemos sentido, por ejemplo en Alaska o en el Oceano Pacífico hay islas que ya se las chupó el agua, que ya no existen y su población emigró.
Las inundaciones momentáneas, a lo que llamaría pequeños borbotones, como parches que uno pone en un lado de una pileta, y que luego ésta se pincha por otro...
