|
|
Hello, I have a genuine (DVD) copy of Claw, I installed it but when I try to play it, all I see is the Monolith Productions cinematic introduction and then the screen turns black but I can still hear some sounds (like pirates talking, swords, etc). When the screen turns black, an error message wil pop up if I press almost any key.
I've done a few things to try to fix this problem, none of them worked: I configured the screen's resolution to 640x480, I configured the game to be executed with 256 colors, I configured the game's compatibility to Windows 95.
Help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. |

Run regedit.exe and open the following registry key: | Code: | | HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Monolith Productions/Claw/1.0 |
There create a new DWORD value, set its name to
and the value data to
This will disable the playback of *.VOB files from the DVD, which doesn't work under Windows XP and causes the problem you mentioned. Lower quality movies from the CLAW.FEC file will be played instead. |

Thanks a lot! I can now see a nice intro, however, when I hit the space bar or the Enter key to skip the intro, an error message will pop up and the game will get closed.
-I just noticed that the same message error will pop up when the intro is over. |

| You could try updating Claw to version 1.3 if you haven't done so yet (the patch can be downloaded here). And if anything else fails, run CLAWADV.EXE from the /MISC directory on the DVD and check if disabling the movies completely solves the problem. |

| Thanks so much guys. I disabled direct video access and the problem was solved. Thanks again, you were both very helpful. |
