We are now able to edit current tilesets and even create entirely new ones! This tool has been hidden inside the Polish CLAW.REZ file for almost 7 years, can you believe it?

Here's my first try at editing the level 1 tileset. It doesn't yet look as I intended, and so far it's only one tile, but then again I'm probably the first Claw player ever to mess up with a custom tileset |

Great discover. If only someone had found this out sooner...
But we'd still need to share rez files if we wanted other people to play our custom tilesets, wouldn't we? _________________ http://claw.ben-ts.net -- The Belated Claw Fansite

| Well, technically it's not necessary to add the entire rez file. All we'd need to distribute is a bunch of small *.pid files and the WinRez utility. The problem is that editing the rez file manually would seem too difficult for the vast majority of Claw players... |

Playing without sound you can get the .rez file down to slightly over 17MB (using the RealArcade version), most people would probably find it easier just to download a file that size rather then install a program, recompile a resource file etc. It's still a neat discovery though. I wonder if the same program was hidden in the English rez file all along? _________________ http://claw.ben-ts.net -- The Belated Claw Fansite

| No, it's only in the Polish one. This tool was necessary to translate some portions of the game, i.e. the menu. Then, deliberately or maybe just by accident, Techland included it in the rez file. |

As for the discover - great job, dude. Now, I don't need to send an e-mail to M. Rainert asking him if he has tools to edit tileset
That's a pity, my winter vacations end in a few days - I wont have enough time to try it _________________ In malayalam - Ngan ninne snaehikkunnu ;*

Wow, I can't believe no one noticed this sooner!
Nice find!
I'm wondering, are there other REZ files other than the English and Polish ones? Ha, eventually we can reprogram the whole game |

| BTW, is anyone trying to include tiles from other levels into one level? I'd guess you'd have to figure out the palette, which (I'd assume) is very time-consuming... it'd be cool though |

The tilesets all have different palettes like you said, so it'd be a real pain in the ass and wouldn't look very good anyway.
As for .rez files, I'm aware of Polish, English and Russian ones. As for other languages...who knows? _________________ http://claw.ben-ts.net -- The Belated Claw Fansite

| There's also a Spanish version floating around, which I've downloaded recently. |
