Yeah yeah I know, ego-boosting, sue me. I just want to know which level of mine is considered the best XD Can't blame me for being curious right? RIGHT?? Right...
Besides, I think everyone should 'enter' their best level and make it a general poll about the best level ever :p
P.S. > Yeah that claw be jammed! title actually came from a Jazz Jackrabbit 2 level > Jazz be Damned! |

Best Level: Claw Be Jammed is my favourite Claw level ever, it's just perfect. If I could re-design it, I wouldn't change a thing. Plus I really like lvl 11's tileset.
Hardest Level: !Tr_Escape.wwd is a right bastard of a level, even in the revised version. Although I like to think my Citadel level gives it a run for its money.
Most Original Level: Again, !Tr_Escape. Falling rocks, shooters that fire in fancy patterns, this level has some of the strangest and most inventive puzzles. It really pushes what's possible with WapWorld.
Best Boss Fight: Deepest Halls of Terror. I challenge anyone to beat it without losing a life.
Weirdest Level: Tree Top Menace by Aavishkar patel. If you land on the ground you die, you have to keep up in the trees. A lot of crazy puzzles and fun moments ensue. _________________ http://claw.ben-ts.net -- The Belated Claw Fansite

*Reading between the lines of Ben's post....*
He's challenging that by the time his New Level's done it'll knock all these off the top positions. _________________ Carcharodon Carcharias

Far from it. Although if Treasurer does his job it could be a possible contender for Best Boss Fight. _________________ http://claw.ben-ts.net -- The Belated Claw Fansite

Being totally honest I actually haven't finished Tr_escape yet. Will do though
Edited after playing >>>
I give up XD Seriously, it's too hard for me to keep trying to continue. I do wonder if there's anybody who actually DID finish this level?
The style though, reminds me a bit of Freya's style. Chaotic, yet it works well and looks really good. (yeah I peeked in Wapworld, sue me XD)
A bad side however, is that while the tileset of the original level 10 was removed, he didn't remove the objects. This both adds in the level's size, as well it makes it impossible to reach a perfect score. Though I do wonder if it's possible that, mind the original objects, to actually collect all treasures in this level without using cheat codes?
Dispite that I still think it's a very good level to the eye, but a bit too hard for me to want to complete XD Nice job Treasurer!
P.S. > Zuczek, I'm not sure if I will create more levels. Maybe if I get new and better ideas again which I'd want to throw in, but with Grey Cat tinkering with the backgrounds and such, it's hard to compete against that if I want to top that off XD
Other than that, it depends on how much the efford I'd put in will be appreciated. |

DzjeeAr (and everyone else)!
In the revised version of 'Escape' (available at Grey Cat's site) there are no obsolete objects, including treasures. So the perfect score is attainable, though very-very hard...
The only drawback left is the huge amount of unneeded space above the level which adds a lot to the file's size. I don't know when I'll have the desire to modify the level one more time, so just enjoy the current version. |

I managed to complete Escape (the original one, not the edited) but only by cheating in several places. I don't really think it should be updated again, I haven't updated any of my levels except River Race. I keep my levels as they are so people can see how much I improved over a period of several months. _________________ http://claw.ben-ts.net -- The Belated Claw Fansite

I think it is impossible to get a perfect anyway. Do you test your own levels to check if you can get a perfect Treasurer? _________________ http://www.geocities.com/captainclawslair

No, I haven't got a PERFECT either, but I was close to it several times. At some places my heart starts beating fast and I lose my dexterity because of that. Once, playing the level for a long time already, I returned to the place with the shooters near the beginning - and died there, because my hands were trembling like mad, though usually I pass that place without problems.
I collected everything in every part of the level separately easily and without dying even once, and it's checked that all the treasures can be collected, so it's surely possible.
I just thought the matter was me with my crazy heart and hands and I was sure that there were players much better than me who would get PERFECT without worrying much. But my dreams were ruined when I was sieged with posts about 'impossible' TogglePegs (I'll say again that I passed them easily every time.).
And now I receive this. All right, I'll take it into consideration.
If you still suspect that there are treasures that are 'out of the level', here's the sequence of my actions:
1) All the treasure or treasure containing logics renamed to '1' (You can still see it in the logics list in the old version of the level.).
2) The level checked for absence of any treasures (got everything 0 of 0 at the end).
3) The needed treasure and treasure containing logics are put in the level with long and thorough testing every time I put something new (I just like to return to old places and pass them together with the new ones. Though it takes far more time, I still enjoy it.). |

Simply because you were able to get past the toggle pegs doesn't mean anything. For what matters I can beat Inner Sanctum without losing a life, but lots of people complained about it (yes, it's a lame level, but that's beside the point). It can be difficult to judge your own puzzles because you are the one who designed them, and you know precisely how to beat them. (If anyone's interested the way to beat Inner Sanctum is to fire lots of bullets really close together so they pass through the Rauxes and kill the dogs behind them).
I rule I follow is that if I die more than three times before passing an area I should make the area easier. This doesn't always mean toning down the difficulty of the puzzles. Maybe it means adding extra health or another checkpoint halfway through. Or maybe making it so that the player doesn't die if he fails but instead gets warped back to the beginning so he can try again.
I keep on trying to get a perfect score on Deepest Halls of Terror, but it's such a big level it's difficult to keep going. So far my record is about 20 pieces of treasure short, including 1 skull. I wish Monolith had allowed us to put save points in levels. They probably thought that no-one would ever make levels longer than their ones. _________________ http://claw.ben-ts.net -- The Belated Claw Fansite

By the way, I wasn't besieging your level, I was giving my oppinion on it. If you make a very difficult level, you can expect such comments. _________________ http://www.geocities.com/captainclawslair

Yes, I know, sorry anyway... And I didn't mean someone was besieging me - I just meant that the number of people complaining about one and the same place was quite considerable.
Frankly speaking, I was expecting such comments, but about completely other places... |

Honestly, I didn't get to those places yet as I didn't get further than that part XD Well, I did, but after I kept falling down from the elevators above I lost my will to continue. I might continue it some other time. _________________ http://www.geocities.com/captainclawslair

Ah, the elevators...
It took me some time too to find the right sequence of moves to perform there, for there are lots of such possible sequences.
A big mistake was not putting enough Checkpoints so that the player could probably try different variants of actions more frequently. |

I still believe that modifications are required. I think a level mustn't be an exhibition but just a decent and tough exercise. Or challenge - whatever you like better.
Grey Cat, could you answer the question, please: how many perfects have you got in custom levels and which levels were those? |

@ Treasurer: I've gotten a perfect on the following levels: The Cocker Spaniard Castel by Edd Brown, Mother of all Caverns by Randy, Lavapit by DzjeeAr, Citadel, Inner Sanctum, Shotgun, and Remora Bay by myself, Claw be Jammed by DzjeeAr, and all of Monolith's levels except the ones where it's impossible. Those are the "major" levels I've gotten a perfect on, there are lots of small ones which I can't remember.
@ zuzzek: it's because he's adopted and his parents don't love him. _________________ http://claw.ben-ts.net -- The Belated Claw Fansite

Grey Cat, for 'Claw Be Jammed!' alone you're already a hero!
Zuczek and DzjeeAr, sorry to admit, but I haven't submitted my vote because I haven't seen even a bit of 'Tropical Paradise' at all and I've seen a small piece of 'Battle Fortress' while playing that piece. Again sorry, but I haven't got enough time. |

You're still trying that? O.o
Totally honest it's VERY hard to get a perfect score in that level, mostly because there are 2 VERY hard to reach secret areas, both at which you only get 1 shot to try and reach it. If you screw it up, no perfect score. Moreso those areas are pretty far in the level. But yeah, I'm SO proud of that big baby ^_^
I'm thinking.... Is it in someway possible to overwrite the original Claw levels, so for example, when you start Level 1, you can play a customized level 1? The difference being the golden safe points will actually be saved? _________________ http://www.geocities.com/captainclawslair

Yeah, it's possible. All you have to do is to edit the CLAW.REZ file using WinRez. |
