In the months before March 2007, I was searching for old, cheap retros for sale in mint condition wether in the net, newspapers, articles, etc. anything which has a "x car brand, x model, x year (gotta be an oldschool ride), x price (affordable, rm5k below...)"
I actually wanted to buy a volvo, 240 GL series since i used to drive one (however, i totaled it which was beyond repair and made dad turn hulk inside... sorry dad heee Embarassed Very Happy... I was a kid, and still am and will be until im 60). So the search for a Volvo 240 it was. And when there was an affodable car, the condition wasnt so convincing. and when there was a convincing car, the price made me (and dad) choke. Sad.
From time to time, day to day, minutes to minutes, we would search everywhere, anything, anytime (day ofcourse...). Until one day, when scrumming the newspapers for vehicles on sale, there it was, posted:

Celica, Mata Bulat
RM 4500
Model Lama
Contact 016-xxxxxxx
Chong

And so quickly I rushed to the phone to call up the person on the advertisement (Daily Express ads are very helpful, read the vehicles for sales collumm, loads of celis for sale there... cheap too). An answered call came with a very apek voice, and we chatted bout the car and confirmed I might be interested in buying it. He said just come by over.
Got dad to go with to check the car out and to my surprise, it was very funny looking celica. Not the ones that really looked muscle-like. I couldn't tell wether I was dissapointed or excited, but then getting a "first" car isnt all that perfect in the beginning. So I bargained with the seller, and got a dropped price to about rm3500. A 1k difference (maybe its because i spent rm20 on my credit just to call him and bargain on the car... and my sad story of how I was a schoolkid with no cash hehehehehe). After paperwork was settled, I used it for another 6 months without doing anything to it. Just left it like that. And guess what? I'm the second owner. Yippee!

This was how it looked like in the beginning... Old retro white. No, really, OLD RETRO WHITE. The white was fading... Had the steel wheels intact, chrome bumpers, preface lift front, front side mirrors... But the pic shown down isnt mine, just a reference to how it looked like (without the polish and clealiness)

(I hit a bluebird with it... Did you know bluebirds are extremely tough even though at 40 km/h? I didn't and now I do Laughing )

Considering that after driving a few weeks with the car, I had problems. My left door would swing open whenever I brake and/or turn! I remember hitting atleast 3 cars with that door... *hughh...* Rain would come in tru my windows, the aircond so slow to cool up (and still am but its doing a little fine now) but overall it was fine.
To tackle the body business, we (dad and I) went to a small bodyshop around Putatan to search to donor car... We found it, and brought it home...

And teared it apart...

(This was a GT model... But the owner change the engine to a standard 2T-C... Haizzzzz...)

So after a few more months I sent it for a new colour. Picked Subaru Impreza 2k Blue, with glitter dust and a little pearlescent effect (light blue to dark blue, and vie versa)

When it first rolled out of the bodyshop:
Huh sexy lil' thing... ugh...

Now my friends wont call my car an apek car anymore! YEAY!!!Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

And so I left it like that again after another few months... And when I felt like it still wanted more, I joined this great site called Classic Celica Club Malaysia which involves celica enthusiast sharing info, trade, car talk, etc... I knew about that site but never joined it, just surf it once in awhile, see what's happening in the world of Malaysian Celicas... Maybe it's because I didnt own one before hrmmm...

And here are pics before the big change (I hit a tree while reversing in heavy rain, and that's why i don't have a rear bumper. I still havent sent it to the bodyshop yet...)

Hoh?! Celica Supra?!

Anyways, after I joined, I've met some really great people from the site, really friendly and open. They greeted me with open arms, thanks guys Very Happy
One of the peoples I've met where Pirate and Bullit... Both of these guys are awesome really cool people I thought theyd make fun of the car since it wasnt in its prime look... But they're cool, yeah, cool...
So I purchased a grille from Bullit, honeycomb and ST i think...

Bullit checking the grille (sorry pics not clear I had a lousy camera phone...)

Pirate giving a helping hand:

Grille!

Maintenance... Valve clearance...

Maintenance... Cleaning gauges, dust, wires...

TO BE CONTINUED....
